About the area
The area of Kingsley derived its name from its position as an outlying corner of Kingsthorpe manor (owned by the Monarch but leased to the inhabitants) “Kingeshala” – King’s nook.
Kingsley and Links View are neighbouring residential areas in the northern part of Northampton, offering a mix of established housing, local services, and convenient access to the town centre. Kingsley is one of Northampton’s older suburban districts, characterised by Victorian and early twentieth-century homes, while Links View is a quieter residential estate developed mainly during the late twentieth century and known for its bungalows, family housing, and proximity to open green spaces.
The wider Kingsley & Semilong ward had an estimated population of approximately 14,154 residents in 2024, reflecting steady growth from 13,211 recorded in the 2021 Census. The area has a diverse population, with a large proportion of residents aged between 20 and 39 years
Residents benefit from a good range of local amenities. Kingsley contains independent shops, cafés, pubs, restaurants, convenience stores, and everyday services. The area is also close to The Racecourse, one of Northampton’s largest public parks, offering recreational space and sports facilities.
Links View is primarily residential but enjoys access to local schools, supermarkets, healthcare services, parks, and walking routes. The neighbourhood borders Kingsthorpe Golf Club and Bradlaugh Fields. Together, Kingsley and Links View are considered established, affordable neighbourhoods that combine suburban living with convenient access to Northampton’s wider amenities and transport network.
